Intuit Quickbooks came to interview us about what makes product businesses tick. This is part 2 of 10.

Part 2 of the interview: You Don’t Have To Be Good With Numbers To Be Great At Financial Management [Video]

Products To Profits is a marketing consulting firm which offers a wide range of services in a very focused niche: consumer product business building. CEO Amy Wenslow admits that her strengths in running her business are more creative than numerical. After a few painful experiences with managing her finances, Amy hired a CFO and bookkeeper to help keep her business running smoothly. The management tool that connects the three of them is a cloud-hosted version of QuickBooks. Being able to see the same reports and files simultaneously enables Amy and her financial team to collaborate more efficiently without ever having to be in the same room — and at any given time. Sales and profit margins are the most analyzed metrics between them that allows Amy to plan for the future in a way she never could before. Amy is adamant that not hiring a financial support team earlier along with utilizing QuickBooks cost her business thousands of dollars and she recommends others don’t make the same mistake.
