Why Won’t They Sign Your NDA?
As you go through the process of getting your product ready to launch, you’ll find yourself reaching out for help from a variety of people/ advisers. You may want them to sign your Non-Disclosure Agreement and they may want you to sign their’s. Refusal to do so on either side can stem from a variety of reasons. It doesn’t necessarily mean an NDA is biased in any way, it can be written to equally protect both parties involved.
For example, having clients sign our NDA helps us standardize our business documents. it gives us consistency since we see so many products. Different NDA’s with different requirements become very cumbersome.
Some companies may already be working on something similar to your proposed product. To maintain their right to pursue their current business, they may not be able to sign your NDA.
Just because someone can’t, or won’t, sign your NDA up front doesn’t always mean anything is wrong. You’ll have to decide for yourself how much to disclose without it.
